“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."                 Matthew 5:13-16

Our mission is to reach out beyond the walls of our church building and embrace our neighbors. Our arms are ALWAYS open to anyone and everyone, regardless of denomination or affiliation, who shares the desire to help meet the needs of our community. Our purpose is to share the love of Jesus Christ through service, assistance, compassion and support.

Serving our community

Assisting those in need

Loving our neighbor as Jesus loved us

Teaching others about love through service

Yearning to grow disciples of Christ Jesus

In Colossians 4:6, Jesus said, "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person." We call ourselves "Salty Souls" and welcome people with the same love and compassion for the needs of our community.

Salty Souls doors are ALWAYS open to anyone and everyone, regardless of denomination or affiliation, who shares the desire to help meet the needs of our community. We are a ministry of Luverne United Methodist Church. However, you do not have to be a member of LUMC or any church to help others.  We invite everyone, men, women, youth, regardless of age, to join our efforts to unite in the ministry of community outreach. It does not matter who you are, where you go to church or even if you go to church. If you have a desire to help, we need YOU!

Salty Souls meet every third Thursday at 1:00 pm
in the Dei Center kitchen.
